What exactly is fruit tea?

If you want to try fruit tea but aren’t sure what to expect, it’s essentially herbal tea that is made from the infusion of herbs, spices, and fruits in hot water.

Technically, it’s not even a “true tea” at all!  “True teas” are blends made from the Camelia Sinensis plant, like green tea and black tea. Since this is an herbal tea, it’s really in the tisanes family more than the tea family (but don’t worry, it still tastes as delicious as any “true tea”).

Why should I drink it?

The best reason to drink fruit tea is that it does not contain caffeine, making it the perfect bedtime alternative to herbal tea or Rooibos tea. It’s the perfect balance between herbal tea, which is earthy and has a light flavor, and Rooibos tea, which has a stronger flavor.

Not only does it have a frui-tea taste (obviously) and contains delicious ingredients such as herbs and dried fruits. One of our favorites is Tutti-Frutti, which contains apple pieces, hibiscus, pineapple pieces, papaya pieces, sour cherries, raspberry pieces, strawberry pieces, and flavoring.

Fruit tea is also one of the best blends to use in iced tea! The sweet flavors in fruit tea taste delicious cold, especially if you add a little honey or agave syrup for some extra sweetness! You can also make an Arnold Palmer with these blends by adding lemonade to your iced fruit tea.

Most of our fruit teas at Dollar Tea Club also include botanicals in their ingredients, which you can read all about here!

There are two ways to brew your Dollar Tea Club fruit tea! The first way is if you’re planning on enjoying it hot. You’ll want to fill an infuser or tea bag with 0.5-1 tablespoon (7.5 mL) of your choice of loose-leaf tea and place it in a mug of hot water that is about 100 degrees Celsius (or 212 degrees Fahrenheit). Let it steep for 3-5 minutes and then remove your infuser or tea bag. That’s it! Next step: enjoy your tea!

The second way to brew your Dollar Tea Club fruit tea is if you are planning on drinking it iced. First, fill an infuser or tea bag with about 1 tablespoon (10 mL) of loose-leaf tea. Place it in hot water that is about 100 degrees Celsius (or 212 degrees Fahrenheit) for 4-7 minutes. After the desired amount of time has passed, remove your infuser or tea bag and add ice to the hot water to cool it down! There you have it, a delicious cup of iced tea to enjoy on a hot (or cold) day.
