Recipe Time: Tea Soup
We’ve written about body scrubs, face masks, and even barbeque rubs that you can create from Dollar Tea Club’s variety of premium loose-leaf teas. But did you know that you can infuse your favorite loose-leaf teas into soups? Let’s take a look at a couple of tea soup recipes and the loose-leaf teas that you can incorporate into them!
Green Tea Chicken Soup | Sencha Organic
Ingredients
2 quarts chicken broth
6-8 tablespoons Sencha Organic
2 tablespoons coconut oil
1 red onion, chopped
4 garlic cloves, chopped finely
2 carrots, chopped
1 cup celery, chopped (about 2 sticks)
1 teaspoon fresh thyme, chopped
1 bay leaf
2 chicken breasts, chopped into medium sized pieces
2 teaspoons sea salt
2 teaspoons black pepper
There are only a few steps that you need to take to create this green tea chicken soup, and it should take about 80 minutes to complete.
Steps:
- Bring chicken broth to a boil. Then, turn off the heat and add Sencha Organic tea leaves. Allow tea leaves to steep for about 10 minutes then strain out the tea leaves.
- Place chicken breasts into the pot with the broth and bring back to a boil. Once broth is boiling, turn heat down to a low simmer and cook chicken for about 40 minutes.
- When 20 minutes have passed (with 20 minutes left to cook the chicken), add remaining ingredients for added flavor.
- That’s it! Serve immediately or store in the refrigerator for up to 4-5 days.
This recipe may seem daunting with such a long list of ingredients, but it’s relatively simple to make with only a few steps. Not only is it easy to make, it’s also the perfect soup for when you’re feeling under the weather. Chicken noodle soups are always a favorite for when we’re not feeling well, but this soup might be even better! Not only is it comforting and delicious, but the green tea contains antioxidants that are great for your health.
